Arts & Culture Outreach
We inspire creativity, promote exploration of the arts, and encourage global awareness,
provide cultural opportunities to community members of all ages through outreach
learning opportunities.
Scholarships are available for Portage County youth; contact the Arts &
Culture Outreach staff for details.

Upcoming Classes & Workshops
- Autumn En Plein Air Painting

This is an open media workshop for painters of all experience levels
held at the Dells of the Eau Claire River.
- Beginning Oil Painting
- Practice special techniques used with oils and learn the process of
oil painting. This class is designed for beginners; however students
with some experience are welcome.
- Brain Gym® 101

Brain Gym is an educational program which uses simple movements to enhance learning
abilities in children and adults.

Dance Series: Ballroom & Swing

Dance like the stars! Dancing is great exercise, a wonderful way to relax, and spend
quality time with a partner.
- Digital Photography for Beginners

Class topics include choosing a digital camera, getting to know your camera, taking

- Emerging Writers: Youth Creative Writing

Explore the many genres of creative writing including poetry,
short fiction, memoir and creative nonfiction in this series
emphasizing the creative process.

Gourmet Cooking Series

Learn techniques and new recipes for unique foods that you will enjoy for years
to come.

How to Play Music by Ear
- A very practical presentation of music theory that includes predicting chord progressions, how to “blend together” songs in different keys,
and learning from recordings and transposing.

Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People
- Typical piano lessons teach you note reading but piano professionals
use chords. You will learn all the chords needed to play any pop song in
this one session.

Draw!

Put into practice drawing techniques for portraits, landscapes,
flora/fauna, still life, and found-object.
Cancellations & Refund Policy
Students withdrawing at least seven days before the first day of class will receive
a full refund. Withdrawals made less than seven days before the class starts will
be assessed a $20 cancellation fee plus a materials charge. No refunds will be given
to no-shows, those canceling after the second class session or for private music
lessons.
