Objectives of the Summit
Fifty seven percent of Wisconsin’s 16 million acres of forests are owned by non-industrial private owners. How these 363,000 owners care for and manage their woodlands (or forests) directly impacts the economy of the state and the health and welfare of its citizens.

What You Will Learn
There are many challenges facing the woodland (forest) owners and impacting their ability to sustainably manage their forests. This PRIVATE FORESTRY SUMMIT will take a look at the benefits of sustainably managing the privately owned forests of Wisconsin, the challenges that can get in the way of sustainable management and identifying opportunities and solutions that we, as a community, can use (implement) to ensure the sustainable management of these forest. Moving forward toward sustainable management on all privately owned forest will help secure a wide range of ecological, economic, and social benefits for the present and future generations
Expected Outcomes
A successful outcome to the summit will be the development of a list of opportunities and solutions from the participants. These ideas will be further developed into action plans and presented to Wisconsin’s council on Forestry.
