Fun with Tessellations

Dr. Susan T. Talarico

This workshop will explore a beautiful connection between art and mathematics. We will explore the art of making tessellations! These cubes were used to make up 'tessellata' - the mosaic pictures forming floors and tilings in Roman buildings. We will be making tessellations from pictures or tiles, commonly in the form of animals and other life forms. We will use these forms to cover the surface of a paper in a symmetrical way to create beautiful tessellations!
